so having my second treatment "the red devil" first one was horrendous sick for 5 days and no sleep, had tablets changed 5 times, had been told to start sickness tablets the next day, but I should have taken them when I got home. Should I start taking them just now so there is a build up as cannot face going through it again, also they have such a struggle to get my veins, any suggestions.
Hi Rocky. I'm really sorry that you had such a hard time after your first treatment. Are you still at the treatment centre? Can you explain to the nurse/ doc how rough it was last time and see if they can't try more powerful anti-sickness pills? I wish I could advise you on this, but I finished my chemo 18 months ago, and although I know I had quite a lot of meds for the first 3 days after, I honestly can't remember what they were called, or when I took them. But for the veins issue... Mine are ridiculously small, and my onc knew immediately when he examined me that IV would be really rough, so he advised me to get a chemo port, which I did. There's also the option of a PICC line, which some people prefer. Of course, everyone is different and these options might not be possible or advisable for everyone, but definitely worth talking with your doc to find out if one or both could help you. All the best xx
