Hello everyone,

I'm 2 weeks post Lumpectomy and Sentinel Node Removal. I've been moisturising both wounds but the last few days I have had pain in both areas almost feels like a tightening, burning sensation and was wondering if that is down to the cream I've been using. With that in mind I'm looking for recommendations on what to use now and in preparation for radiation in a few weeks time.

Sending gentle hugs to all x

  • Hi sorry to hear you are suffering following your lumpectomy........I used nutrogena fragrance free products, but E45 is good as is the Aveno range

Some hospitals recommend a specific one, so you could check with your breast care nurse & also mention how you are feeling, they may want to take a look to make sure there isn't a problem

    Best wishes x

  • Hello,

The surgeon told me not to put any cream on the wound as it needed to stay dry, but that was from a LICAP flap reconstruction so might be different. Sounds like a good idea to check with the hospital, as Kitty1 says.

    Hope it feels better soon!

  • Hi Kitty, many thanks for your swift response. I will ring my breast care nurse tomorrow. Thank you for the recommendations too.

    Have a great Sunday x

  • I was told not to moisturise until the wounds had healed, but best to speak to your  BCN.

    Best wishes

  •   I was told to keep the wounds dry and free of creams etc until all was healed. Once they healed over I used pure aloe Vera gel, which I stored in the fridge, lovely and cooling! I also used the blue Nivea cream. Definitely getting your BCN to have a look and check things out..better safe than sorry!

  • Hi Dicha part of the issue is my post surgery bra is just lying on the very end of my node wound - the wound ends just in the wrong place. Both wounds are dry and healed which is when ı was told I should moisturise. I will have a look at the product you recommended x
