Hi all, I had a lumpectomy and mammoplasty for DCIS on 21st July 2022 and I’m still getting quite a bit of pain in the affected breast. It’s mainly sharp pains, not all the time and not every day but it’s still quite painful if I lie on that side. Is this normal, I’ve read that pain can take months on not years to settle but I’m getting a bit unsure now? I start my radiotherapy next week.

  • Hi Gertie, it is normal - the sharp pains are probably nerves mending.  It will settle down in time.   If you have any concerns, you should speak to your breast cancer nurse.  Good luck with the RT.

  • Thanks for replying, I thought it probably was but going through this experience makes us all on edge and doubtful. Thanks looking forward to get RT done and dusted now Blush
