  • Hi  I had mastectomy Oct  2021 and was given a softie to use temporarily.  I then had an appointment at the hospital in December 2021 to be measured for and given a prothesis.   Contact the breast care nurses to see what is available before spending any money

  • My mum had breast cancer as well as me.  I have opted fot reconstruction but she didn't.   She never wore a prosthesis for swimming she was advised to use those shower scrunchies instead as they float.  She had them sewn in her costume and you couldn't tell.

  • I got an appointment after about 8 weeks to see a breast care nurse for a silicone prostheses fitting.  It’s free. She also gave me details of specialist companies which do special ones for swimming etc.  I’ve set that to one side as a project for next summer as I’ve still got chemo to finish and then radio. These companies do have shops/pop ups around the country but also do online consultations.  It would be worth asking your wife’s team what is on your area and checking out dates for any regional pop ups if you are a long way from a shop.

  • hi thank you, good luck in your treatment, take care x
