Hello. Does anyone have problems with weight gain after chemo? And how to deal with it? What did you do to lose weight?
Yes. I plan to rejoin Skimming World when I’m done as I know this works for me and I had lost weight really well before my diagnosis and the stress eating then the steroids and exhaustion of chemo altering my exercise habits. On the whole I’d rather have put on weight than been nauseous but it is a bit depressing on top of everything else to deal with. But we can do it! I’m still on chemo for another four weeks but less steroids and did lose a kg last cycle having put on 8 over 12 weeks. It is tough and takes dedication to shift but it’s also so much about having the head space to plan and the energy to shop:cook properly …. I’ll be there after chemo. Is there a plan or programme that has worked for you in the past that you can revisit? Or check out low GI cook books/recipes as in my experience those work
I had a lot of water weight with docetaxel, rather than actual weight gain. It just took a long time to go down and not much I could do about it other than keep active. At my final oncology appointment after my main treatment, 6 months after chemo, they said it was 'early days' for losing the water retained from chemo.
