DCIS pain normal?

Hi all,

I was diagnosed with DCIS triple negative on 7th July. Since then I've had loads of scans and another biopsy under my arm. As time has gone on, particularly over the last couple of weeks, I've been getting increasingly regular pain in my breast. The pain can vary for being sore to electric shock type pain and isn't constant all day. The pain also isn't necessarily where the lump is (which is on the left side of my left breast) but can often be in the nipple area.

Is this normal? I'm not due to start chemo until the 18th August.

  • Hi I was diagnosed with DCIS back in April/May. I had two vac biopsies and then Magseeds put in pre op. I suffered quite a lot of pain in my breast, as you describe, shooting pains etc. when I went in for my op two weeks ago I asked the surgeon if the Magseeds had anything to do with the pain. He said the pain was because of the biopsies and general trauma to the breast. I must admit I had more pain before my therapeutic mammoplasty than I’ve got now, two weeks down the road. Hope this helps.

  • Thanks Gertie.

I asked my chemo nurse today and she said similar to you, it's trauma from biopsies and scans but also because mine is aggressive it's likely because it's growing. At least I know it's normal which is a weight off the mind Slight smile
