Hi Mich1972 welcome to the forum and I am sorry to hear how much pain you are in. If you really think about it you have had major surgery and 18 days is not even 3 weeks, so it is so early days as yet and things will be starting to heal, but I also imagine that you will have bruising even if its not visible outside it will be on the inside.

It could be months before you feel anywhere near ok with the feeling and sensations in that area so dont be too hard on yourself and take all the time you need to heal and get back to being you. xxxx

  • Two things could be at play here. One, normal body reaction to trauma, you know how, when someone gets a bad bump to the head, it can take some days before the "bump" shows up in all of its colours and size? Could be the same here. Another possibility is that the nerves are starting to recover, meaning, allowing you to feel it more than before.

But, to be on the safe side, I would phone the nurse, see what she says.

As for how to deal with it, I used ice (wrapped up in a towel) at some point, and once the incisions started to heal, I started using vitamin E oil on them. I checked the first with my nurse and the second with my surgeon first as I wanted to be sure it was ok to go ahead with these things.

  • Thanks for your kind words of encouragement x
