Hi
I have been having Zoledronic acid infusions every 6 months since October 2019 but when i went for my last appointment i was told by the nurse that my Oncologist said i no longer need it due to new guidelines but it was up to me . After a discussion i decided to go ahead as it was my 6th infusion, but i would have liked to have been informed before my appointment as to the reason for stopping it. I rang the sectretary in march and asked for an explanation in a letter but i have not had an answer.
Has anyone else been told to stop and also do i need to take calcium and vit D now for my bones. I should have an appontment with my Oncologist in October i will obviously ask her about it then.
Thank you.
Hi lulupop
I had no 6 last month thinking my last but got told onco had prescribed 7 not 6 . Will see her in August and will ask but I think it’s a mistake as always said 6. I’m not aware of any changes to the protocol of three to five years of infusions .
I was prescribed Adcal for vit D at the same time as infusions two per day but my calcium got too high so one per day .
hope you get it sorted
I've been prescribed it every 6 months for 3 years (though not sure if that means 6 or 7 infusions). Did it used to be 5 years?
Tnak you for your reply, i will try to speak to the secretary about vits. xx
i was told 3 to 5 years but i think its changed to 3 years now. xx
I was told 3 to 5 yrs but most probably 3yr every 6 month I presumed that meant 6 so did chemo unit girls but when they checked she had prescribed 7 . Checked my record book and first one was in Nov 2019 so 3year would be Nov 2022 so 7 would be correct . Think I’ve decided to ask onco when I see her but will go for it …one more can’t do me any harm
I was also told every 6 months for 3 years, I assumed that was 6 infusions, but you're right, it could also be 7. I take calcium and vit D tablets daily
It's a bit confusing if I had decided to decline the last infusion I would have had 5 !! Do you but the vitamins or are they prescribed for you?
