2nd surgery

I think with each operation there is a 20% chance of no clear margins , so you are more likely to get clear ones than not. It is very disheartening though isn’t it ?

Hi Jo yes it is very disheartening the maddening thing is the waiting i at to wait 8 weeks to get my second surgery you keep trying to think positive but then things keep getting thrown back its one step forward 1 step back but i guess we just have to pray and let the surgeon's do there best x

I got clear margins following the second op. Mine was grade 3, but had not spread. Hope this helps. X

I had second surgery , cavity shave for better margin and it was successful. Best wishes with yours.

I think they like to get clear biopsy readings around the affected area. My second op, they called a "shave", so I imagine they shaved off a bit more around the affected area. Hope this helps. And, it's not daft and don't be sorry, it's good we can ask these questions and get others' experiences. X
