Lymph node biopsy

I have just had a call from the hospital stating that my breast biopsy isn’t back yet, however, my lymph node biopsy is which the results show as ‘sitting on the fence’ so I have to go back in for a further biopsy. Anyone else had the same? Is this a sign of good news or just not taken enough sample?

  • Hi DS38

Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that you are waiting on results to find out whether you have breast cancer or not. While I haven’t had your experience I noticed that you haven’t had any answers yet so I thought I’d say hi. Hopefully someone with your experience will be along soon.

Wishing you the best of luck with the results of your breast biopsy and with your second lymph node biopsy.

    Best wishes

  • Hello DS38, I too had to go back for a second lot of biopsies on my lymph node, as they wen't sure about my results. The second lot came back negative, but when I had a lumpectomy, they took a lymph node for biopsy again, just for safe measures. It showed negative. I don't think it's necessarily bad news, maybe sometimes, they just don't get the sample they want. X

  • Thank you for replying…I don’t want to hold out any hope before knowing exactly what type of cancer I am dealing with. Letting my worse thoughts take over!!! The nurse did say that it is usual practice to take lymph nodes out at the point of surgery…I am just beside myself with worry! Over analysing every conversation I have had, getting confused with what I’ve been told and what I’ve read, searching for answers. I just hope my conclusion isn’t what I am going to hear at my next appointment. X
