I had a biopsy which has shown cancer. I’m waiting on the next steps. Now though, my breast is painful and lumpy and aches. It never did this before. Is this normal?

  • Hi there, I too experienced pain after biopsy and diagnosis. I have read from a few people on this forum that they didn’t experience pain until they received diagnosis so I can only assume that it is normal. A biopsy is classed as minor surgery so I suppose you have to expect some pain. I can’t tell you not to worry as I am not in that place myself yet but I am sure others on this forum can settle your worries more than I can xx

  • I had pain for a few weeks after the biopsy and also swelling, so it felt like the lump had grown in size!. The leaflet I got to take away said all that was normal.

  • I also had pain and swelling after my biopsies. Think this may be normal x

  • I had the same thing; it was a haematoma (akin to a bruise) from the biopsy and completely normal.  Best wishes for the rest of your treatment

  • I had pain and an uncomfortable feeling right up to my neck and a lot of bruising which took 2 weeks to subside, wss told to expect lump to swell after the biopsies which it did, was so glad I was warned. All sounds normal but if you are unsure a quick call to your breast cancer nurse will be best  x hope it settles soon x
