Hi i. Due to start paclitaxel  and wortied about it anyo e give me advice please xx

  • Hi. I wanted to reply to you. I was on Docetaxal, but I have two friends who have had weekly paclitaxel. Both were switched to P because they found D too challenging (for them). They coped better on it. That’s all I know Im afraid. Xx

  • Hi I had 12 Paclitaxel, it was okay , I didn’t really have too many issues with it , you will lose your hair after about three lots of it , and I suffered with other issues such as my nails. My friend had this as well as EC and said the Paclitaxel was much easier than the standard chemo.

Is there something in particular you are worried about ?

    Jo x

  • I asked to go on to this instead of DX after reading comments on here. I found it much much easier than EC. I still took anti heartburn and anti sickness every morning. I did get bad tingling in hands round cycle 10 and they found a fracture in my spine so they stopped it.  can't confirm PX caused the fracture but any chemo can thin the bones. I really didn't suffer many if any side effects and my hair started to sprout back around cycle 8. oh I did have to have an iron infusion but not surprising after 6 months of 2 x chemo.

  • Hi, i have had 3 EC and now will gave 9 paclitaxels  i worry about an allergic  reaction when home i get panicky  see . X

  • Hi Joe ,i worry about everything  see already had 3 EC lostvhsir already , its if i gave allergic  reaction when home im scared of everything was in bed with 2nd and 3rd Ec xx

  • Hi, I had 12 weeks of paclitaxel together with 3 weekly cycles of Carbo. I'm now on my 2nd EC cycle and I'm finding the EC harder but only have 1 left. With the Paclitaxel I suffered with nausea & muscle aches, although the muscle aches may be due to the injections they give you to boost your immune system.

Make sure you speak to them if you get side effects, I had my anti sickness tablets changed twice.

I started losing my hair after the 2nd week & it was coming out in clumps, after a week I got my husband to clip it all off. It was distressing at the time but I've got used to it & he clips it every few weeks. I don't have much hair left anywhere, few eyebrows & lashes & that's about it but it will grow back.

Good luck with your treatment x
