Hi guys,
Has anyone experienced non oral thrush with chemo?
Had my first EC 10 days ago. Noticed some oral thrush, treated it with the Daktain oral gel. Tonight my bottom felt sore. Took a look. Big red rash, which to my trained mummy eye is thrush.
Guess it makes sense, it’s travelled through the body. Especially, as I can’t take my usual probiotics…. But looking online all I see is Chemo Mouth. I can’t seem to find anyone else that has had this issue or how they’ve treated it?
I actually have a house full of ways to treat this, as I have a kid on long term antibiotics. I will call the chemo unit and ask if topical creams are ok, or if fluconazole is the call. But just wondered if I was alone on this?
Not had thrush on EC, and this is not intended as advice, but is my experience. I decided to largely ignore the dietary advice they gave in favour of taking care over food hygiene and freshness / sourcing. It all seemed stuck in 1980s pregnancy advice (which I had also largely ignored) and my normal diet includes live yogurt, rare beef, soft eggs, shellfish, blue cheese, French unpasteurised cheese, sashimi, fermented foods etc. I decided I couldn’t live without most of that. I will also happily reheat casseroles I have prepared myself as I batch cook them, but I don’t (and never would have done) reheat anything in a microwave. I eat food from deli counters. I don’t buy ready meals other than those with raw ingredients like Charlie Bigham’s. I have not had a single infection from any of it.
