Hi Spindrift, does sound like it could be a reaction to coming off HRT but would definitely contact the breast clinic. If your op is next month then I’d guess they’d wait till after that to discuss hormone therapy, certainly in my case I went on Anastrozole several weeks after my lumpectomy. But each cancer and patient are different so I’d check. Also we knew that I was post menopausal, that ship had long since sailed! Sorry you have this additional worry, the other thing I’d say is that I’ve read many times here that most of our cancers are pretty slow growing so not likely to change much in a few weeks. Thanks for replies. I ended up calling Breast nurse today. She said same thing, hrt giving hormonal shunt causing period. (I've spotted in last year.) She says i'll start tamoxifen post up and to let my consultant know next time i see her.

There’s a very simple blood test to check if you are past menopause yet - that’s what they did with me, as I didn’t have reliable periods ever. I hadn’t had a period for 8 months but I still wasn’t in menopause. They put me on Tamoxifen and then of course, Murphy’s law, I had a period!
