I had a Wide Excision Lumpectomy and Sentinel Node Biopsy just over eight weeks ago to my right breast. I finished a five day Radio Therapy last Tuesday. My right breast is now so much smaller than my left. Before the operation I was a size DD cup and now my right breast looks more like a C Cup. How would I go about finding out if Its possible to have a breast reduction on the left breast. Thankyou for any info x

  • You could ask your oncologist or breast surgeon can help - they may refer you to plastic surgery or they may offer the operation locally. They can also discuss other options with you that may be of interest.

  • My breast surgeon has offered me a reduction on the left hand side after my reconstruction is complete on the right side. There is quite a difference in mine too. It would be worth you asking. x

  • Hi Bojango

I had a lumpectomy just over a year ago. I am the same as you a DD in the good breast and a C in the other also it is out of shape.  I go to see my surgeon next Tuesday and hope they can do something about it . I don't want any surgery on my good breast,  hopefully she will come up with a solution as it is getting me down a bit now

  • My breast is still swollen after my lumpectomy 8 weeks ago but at the time I asked the nurse about the difference in size. She mentioned that later on I could have like a breast pad to put in my bra to compensate for the difference. Al the beat xx

  • Thank you Goodie75. It’s good to hear that a reduction can be offered. Your response has made me feel more confident in asking now that it seems it could be a possibility. X

  • Hi Carolyn. Like you my breast is also out of shape as well as smaller - to be expected. For me personally I would prefer to have a reduction on the “good” breast. I hope your Surgeon comes up with a good solution that you feel is best for you. X
