Good news I think, ITV have just announced a new drug for breast cancer sufferers cleared for NHS use, 2 x pills a day that can stop the cancer coming back after the tumour is removed. Anyone else know anything about this please? Love from Ann
Hi farmerann, just read Guardian article re this - seems to be the drug mentioned in another thread - begins with A and ends with ‘ib’ but I can’t go back to check as I’ll lose this post I think! The thread’s title mentions NICE approval. Exciting news for sure. I don’t think I’ll be eligible as although I’m on Anastrozole for hormone receptive cancer, it looks like the new drug is only for node positive cancers which mine wasn’t. Great to see new developments. Xx
Abemiciclib I think if I’ve remembered it correctly- have a look for a thread with that in its title xx
Here's a link to the earlier thread https://community.macmillan.org.uk/cancer_types/breast-cancer-forum/f/breast-cancer-forum/241300/abemaciclib--nice-approval-today
Looks interesting!
hi, yes, abemaciclib. It is great news. I was node positive but unable to have it as Ive been on anastrazole for more than 12 weeks. Breast Care Now have told me that I won’t qualify as surgery last year, so she suggested that for early breast cancer it might be for those more recently diagnosed
