So 2 days before chemo, blood test revealed low magnesium and potassium but given meds and chemo went ahead. Same day as blood test GP called me for blood test so I had 3 with him. Looking a kidneys, thyroid and any defects! Found I’m extremely anemic so was prescribed iron tablets! Trouble is I never knew I was unwell! No symptoms, no tiredness only the usual grot taste in mouth, still able to mow lawn, cook, ironing etc. If it wasn’t for chemo, I’d still be healthy!!
Morning Tavares
Chemo is a bugger isn't it sometimes you feel fine and it's busy attacking you other times you know straight away and anemia seems to one of these the chemo I'm on really seems to like my bone morrow so my bloods drop giving me anemia almost every week and normally I feel fine up to a point then it just changes in seconds making me extremely dizzy breathless and barely able to walk which means phoning emergency line and a trip to A&E for a blood transfusion but I try to look on it as a nessasary evil as hopefully it means it's working hope the iron tablets are working for you and your finding the magnesium and potassium drinks not to vile take care sending hugs xxxD
Thank you Kentish maid! I’m so sorry that you’ve had to have transfusions! I hope they weren’t too horrendous but it’s all that hanging around in hospital that’s the killer but at least you were aware you were unwell. I just feel frustrated as after every chemo (now had 4 out of 6) I’m always unwell! Low pot, electrolytes, low mag, high BP, gastric issues, diarrhoea which saw me in A&E having Xray, neuropathy, and then the joy of Filgrastim injections and steroids, which I’m sure everyone has to go through! Yet my friend had NO issues with her 7 chemos and her tumour shrunk by 3/4 and she’s absolutely fine! No intervention or tablets!…. but if course I’m extremely happy for her. Sorry to drone…
Sometime we just need to have a moan and although we are pleased when others have an easier time and wouldn't want others to suffer like we are when your feeling rubbish we sometime need a why me moment and it's so difficult to explain to the people around you as you don't really want them to know how bad and scared your feeling so you try and put on a brave face so it's good to have here that you can vent on
