Hi all,

Had my first chemo today, picc  line fitted yesterday.  Everything  went OK, nurse did say the arm with picc felt bit hard  she told me to watch out for swelling, it does feel hard, but not red   said to watch out for blood clots, I just feel tired and  bit spaced out , can't remember  what she said if had issues, is it go to a & e or ring emergency  line?  Chemo brain already,  had cold cap so was expecting  headache

  • Hello! Always the emergency line, my experience is that a&e lack the expertise. All the best of luck to you, hope you get some rest x

Totally agree, A&E was full of small boys with saucepans on their heads and football injuries (not the medics, the patients!!) always use the chemo line for queries…

Chemo brain is real!  Joy  It’s that going upstairs and not remembering why! After effects are grot but jump on them quick with various meds if need be. Hope PICC arm doesn’t prove to be an issue. I had 2 PICCs, first one bled, 2nd one my arm came up in blisters! Yuck! I just have chemo through crook in elbow now but it does mean sitting for ages with a straight arm which is bruised next day but soon recovers. Best wishes. X

  • Thanks feel grot already , hoping wouldn't  start till tomorrow,  have throbing/ tingling  all over body   banging headache and nausea , tiredness   roll on day 7!! Xx
