Hi,

How's everyone been coping with the Radiotherapy given over 5 days instead of the 15 days pre Covid?

Thanks in advance.

Xx

  • I don't know what that means ?  Didn't know of any changes?
I was to have 5  days then 5 days of boost. My boost was cancelled as the area is to big Shrug tone1
im on day 4 of 5 of RT and feeling good. I’m a little tired and feel a little heavy likes it’s a lot of effort to do things like dry my hair lol.

I did sleep today for an hour. My breast is swollen and red but not sore.
hope your goes well too x

  • Ha Ha, love your name Babesintheboob.

So pre Covid Radiation was given Mon-Fri mainly for 3 weeks but when Covid struck they decided to give it in only 5 days. My hospital in Nottingham said it has worked very well, so they are continuing to give it this way. I was just wondering how people are feeling. I am awaiting my appointment any day now.

I hope your treatment continues to go well.

    Xx

  • Good luck I think it sound worse than it is. But I am off work. Maybe if your still working it would be very tiring. Just rest when you need to x

  • The 5 treatment regimen came about as a result of a 5 year trial called Fast Forward the results of which were published just before covid. They found that for certain early stage Breast  cancer 5 treatments giving more each day ( but a smaller overall dose) has the same biological effect as 15 smaller treatments.

I had 5 treatments…. It was fine…. Slightly pink boob and a bit of tiredness but that was it.

Hope it goes well for you too x

  • Hi I had 5 treatments just before Christmas last year. I used bio oil and was lucky I didn't get sore just a littke reddish and a bit itchy. Still very tired and still get the sharp burning pains which can apparently last for 2 to 3 years. The actual RT sessions were ok.

  • By any chance are you in England

  • Hi, I finished my 5 days last Wednesday 1/6/22. So far no real issues skin is pink on the treated boob using E45 2 or 3 times a day hoping that side effects stay at just pink skin. Good luck with your treatment..

  • Hi Tigger62, So glad to hear your doing so well. Thanks for your response, it is much appreciated. God luck with the rest of your journey. Xx
