Hi

Can anyone in the UK recommed the best moisturiser for after radiotherpay treatment?

Many thanks

  • Hello, my radiotherapy oncologist was a pains to tell me not to use anything during the treatment and when I had reaction towards the end of treatment and only when having boosted doses,  I was prescribed silver cream that helped everything to heal. Post the treatment he recommended I use QV or Cetaphil and I’m using QV as I prefer the texture. 4 weeks post radiotherapy everything was great. Good luck with your treatment x

  • It was suggested that I use Aveeno moisturiser for a couple of weeks before RT, during if my appointment was later in the day, and afterwards for 4 weeks.  I finished RT almost 3 weeks ago, and had no real problems... so far.  I hope all goes well for you too.

  • Most people use Aveeno but if your budget stretches further you can use Flamigel RT which can be bought on amazon which has been specifically made for radiotherapy treatment.

it is extremely expensive though… about £28 a tube but people seem to like it.

  • Hi, I used Aveeno and started a couple of weeks before the radiotherapy. The hospital gave me a big tube of Flamigel to use three times a day during the treatment and for a week afterwards. It was a bit messy but seemed to work. I didn’t have any skin breakdown but it did go red / dark and get sore and peeled a bit. I’m 3 weeks past treatment now and just using Aveeno.

    good luck x

  • At my first radiotherapy session I was given zero base

  • Hiya, I used E45 and it was fine.

    xx

  • Hi

I used Bio oil and had no soreness at all from the RT. I just went a tiny bit red and a little bit itchy. I used for several weeks before the RT, morning and night before and after each session and for several weeks afterwards.

  • I used E45 daily as soon as I could after op and then daily during RT but only after my RT treatment not before as radiographer said not a good idea beforehand.
