Hi,

I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the end of April initially the operation was going to be a lumpactomy with the lymph nodes looked at for a tumor just under 3 centimetres, graded a 3. I decided I wanted the whole breast removed which was carried out on Monday and I was told there was no sign of cancer in my lymph nodes. I'm recovering well but am driving myself mad with what is next. My appointment is next Wednesday but I'm just looking for anyone with a similar case who might be able to give me an idea of what's next my biggest fear from the start is chemo I don't think it is something I can handle?

  • I think fear of the unknown is where we all struggle. I constantly read/researched, drove myself crazy. Feared all the possible side effects. So hard to stop yourself. 'It' takes over your mind completely. Don't think there's a day I don't look on this forum!! Hopefully you'll be lucky and not need chemotherapy, if you do, doubt you'll get every side effect. Wish I could help more....... I was booked in for first counselling session today, but been bit too low to attend due to chest infection. Feeling brighter tonight  so fingers crossed. Here for you. • Hi Rosaparks,

I'm also waiting post surgery, having had lumpectomy and lymph biopsy on Tuesday. I'm focusing on one day at a time and aiming to get as strong as possible in order to cope with any further surgery or treatment. I am doing my exercises, getting out for walks and pottering in the garden all of which help me to stay calm.

I felt like I couldn't cope with the biopsies but I could, felt like I couldn't cope with the wire but I could and felt like I couldn't cope with the surgery but I could. It is hard but we cope

Wishing you all the best with your recovery and results.

    Stay strong,Jo

  • Hi Gander, sorry to hear you were feeling low today but glad you're feeling better this evening.

    Take care, Jo
