Hi

I had my first treatments of pax chemo and herceptin on Friday. I reacted to the pac and treatment was stopped whilst drugs given to counteract the reaction. Started again more slowly and got about 3 quarters in before having another reaction. I now have to speak to consultant before any more. Last night started with low down abdominal pains through into the pelvis and butter cheeks this has continued, the nurse think could be sciatica has anyone else experienced this

Thanks in advance

  • Hi

Your post has slipped to the third page, so I'm just replying to get it back to page 1 in case anyone is around now who has experienced similar to yourself.

Glad to see that you have been in touch with your nurse.

    Best Wishes, Lesley

  • I had a reaction too, on my first one - looked like a tomato and my chest got a bit tight. They stopped the infusion for half an hour and gave me some more steroid or antihistamine and it all settled down. I did find my skin on my face was really red for a few days and very dry. I didn't have another reaction until my 4th dose when I only went red and my chest was unaffected. The two in the middle were entirely uneventful. I hope you are recovering from your reaction now.

I had a lot of aches in various joints on my first paclitaxel, that I did not have with subsequent infusions. The chemo nurses thought my pelvic aches and pains were due to the filgastrim injections, but it could be a nerve pain, especially if you have a shooting pain sensation. Is someone going to call you back to try and help with pain relief if it is really sore?

  • Thanks for your reply, they told me to take paracetamol for the pain helps a bit but still hurting. My red face has calmed down now. I have applied with doctor tomorrow to discuss further, fingers crossed. Good luck with yours too hope you don't have any further reactions x

  • I hope the pain settles down and that your GP can offer you some helpful advice about the cause of the pain. Hoping too for uneventful paclitaxel days for you from now on xxxx
