Surgery!

Hi All

So had my appointment with the surgeon on Monday to discuss the options. I've had 5 rounds of 6 (Last chemo due 7th June) and surgery planned for 6th July. Anyway, as I have to have radiotherapy after surgery I'm going for the skin saving mastectomy with immediate implant. I have many options after the radiotherapy but need to see the way the implant reacts to it apparently. I did express concerns about being 'lop-sided' but it wasn't until after that I really meant I didn't really want to have different size boobs! Is there anybody who has had a reduction on the 'good' boob at the same time?

Thanks in advance!!

  • Hi, sorry to hear about your diagnosis and upcoming surgery. I'm not able to offer any words of wisdom on reductions or reconstruction but wanted to reply as no-one else had and me doing so will put your thread at the top again.Wishing you all the best for your surgery Xx

  • How every thoughtful of you, thank you Heart eyes

  • Hi

i did not require my other boob to be reduced as wasn’t required, however a friend of mine few months ago had lumpectomy in right breast and a reduction at the same time. She was delighted with outcome as was heavy breasted before and now perfect size on both x

  • Wishing you all the best for your surgery, I’ve just had bilateral mastectomy and was told I couldn’t have implants until after my radiotherapy and the plastic surgeon wasn’t happy to do reconstruction until I’m healthier.

my friend recently had surgery to one boob and the surgeon “evened” her up a few months after her initial surgery, I don’t think they do it at the same time, they prefer to let things settle first.

  • Thank you that sounds like me!

  • I think that's the way it's going to be. Hope you have a speedy recovery and feel better soon Slight smile
