Hi all,
I had a lumpectomy 2 weeks ago and found out today I have clear margins and my lymph nodes are clear, which is obviously a massive relief.
Today my surgeon was speaking to me about a chest wall perforator flap partial breast reconstruction. I was just wondering if anyone has had this and what their experiences have been?
I need to make a decision in a week and it is really hard. At the moment my breast is filled with fluid so it looks pretty good, but I'm worried about how it will look after radiotherapy. It's hard to make a decision when I don't know what it would look like if I didn't have the surgery.
Any advice / shared experiences would be greatly appreciated
Hi Eclair58
I am in a similar position to you in that I had my lumpectomy on Wednesday and hopefully when I see the consultant she will have got it all. I have already been told that I don't have.enough fat around my side/back to have this done and can already tell from looking at my breast that I am going to need something doing to make it look normal again. I would also appreciate any advice, do I just leave it? Have an implant? (The consultants advice before surgery) or go the tummy fat route? So confusing, and enough trying to get to grips with what has already been done without having to make quick decisions about more surgery : (
All the best, I hope you have managed to decide on the best thing for you
Hi, nice to hear from you.
Sorry you also have to make a difficult decision. I have decided to go for the reconstruction op as my breast has definitely started to look flat where the surgery was done, I have weighed up the options and I think it's worth trying it... I hope you can come to your decision without too much difficulty.
All the best.
