Hi I've finished all my treatment and am now in remission. I know that I should be feeling positive but I don't. I keep having panic attacks and feeling scared.
Has anyone else experienced this or got any suggestions for how to deal with it?
So sorry that you feel like this, I can only imagine. I am still receiving herceptin and perjeta every 3 weeks as preventative and I take comfort in this and I completely get why you feel panicked. I found when I was having my chemo that breathing and meditation helped, it’s not my thing abd if you knew me you would understand that I am very far removed from this but it really helped. I gained control and it allowed me to sleep better and be positive. I use an app called Aura.
I am sure McMillan have some resources that could help, I think talking to someone could be the way to go if you feel comfortable with that?
I hope that you are able to find something that helps you as you have come so far Don’t give yourself a heard time for the fear abd panic, we all know it
I haven't experienced any panic attacks, so I'm not sure I can help too much but what helps for me is to move as much as possible and to eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. I read that exercise and a healthy diet can in-part help to reduce the risk of recurrence and also helps to feel better mentally and clear the mind. I try to focus on the things I can do to help myself, and less on the things I can't control (such as if my cancer comes back). If I do all I can, then even if the cancer comes back, I'm at peace to think there is nothing more I could have done. I also find it helps to keep myself busy and get out in the fresh air as much as possible. I know sometimes it's easier said that done, but step by step you will work your way through this and find your positivity. Just go easy on yourself whilst you find your path!
Best of luck x

Others have found this a helpful readas they too have reported finding the period after treatment quite hard to adjust to. Hope that helps.
