How did I get Breast cancer

So I'm still trying to work out after being diagnosed last year how I got breast cancer at 36 invasive dics.

No one in my family has it , I'm the only one, it's hormone receptive too so I keep thinking at the back of my mind what did I do to get it.

Is it caused by stress , I have been permanently stressed for about 10 years with PTSD.

I took hormone contraceptive for about 6 years with a break of about 3 in between.

But if contraceptive pill caused breast cancer everyone would get it,.So I'm not going with that option.

There must have been in my body already waiting to develop it .

I have a great grandmother who had ovarian cancer over 50,mum side .

My dad's  aunt , had cancer , not sure what type  her aunt had breast cancer .

His dad had lung cancer, over 50 .

So do I have some thing that has been passed down,

Do I need a gene test, will they even offer me one.

I would hate that I got this because of stress & environment factors, hormones, it's something I could of prevented.

I guess there are so many reasons why we are ‘chosen’…from genetics to disease to hormones etc. only person who could give you a directive is your oncologist. I felt like blaming a mammogram I had in 2013 which reported calcifications. Next 2 mammograms  in 2015/2018 showed nothing. I’m not going to waste sleep/time in thinking did mIne start in 2013..? I’ll screw myself into a ball.  Bless you carrying so much stress.  Maybe you need yoga, relaxation to help calm and help control your thoughts xxxx

  • My surgeon said the biggest risk factor was being a woman. Try not to overthink it, it’s often entirely random.

  • The radiologist said to me its nothing you've done its just bad luck.

Ive no family history of any cancer never been on the pill and a health freak all my life.

Don't beat yourselve  up it just happens

    Xx

I asked myself the same questions....

I do BELIEVE mine is from the overproduction of Cortisol my entire adult life....(the fight or flight response) I have read many studies regarding what "stress" does to your body and one of the things it does is cause cancer.

However, to me...no tests will matter...I HAVE IT....and I know we have to fight it.

And so many other things we have been exposed to (especially vaccinations) are cancer causing..even our toothpaste and deodorants are cancer causing!

I read, Flouride causes cancer the "quickest" ...and that is in our water, deodorant, toothpaste and who knows what else.

Time for us to switch to all natural toothpaste and deodorants...doing everything I can now to fight this cancer....and have it not return.

And I remember telling the Dr. who took the biopsy (I did a ton of research before my biopsy) that the only thing I wanted to see on my report IF I had cancer was DCIS...because that is when they catch it at the EARLIEST STAGE.

So it seems above you mentioned you have DCIS....If it has to be cancer....to me this type is what I would have preferred to see on my report.

However, that is not what was on my report....Mine is still early with some DCIS in Focal nodes (whatever that means).....But the diagnosis I received was Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, a tiny bit more advanced than yours....you should have zero lymph node involvement (I am not a Dr..just trying to make you feel better), from all the studies I read...

I used to work in the Medical Industry...in Pharmaceuticals and Biotechnology so I read many clinical trials....and peer reviewed studies when the trials are complete.

Its so scary to be diagnosed with Cancer..right....but I don't think we can ever figure out exactly how we got here.

  • Missy I think you are so right, I have been beating myself up about how I could have got it! Eat so healthy, train a lot, but I did have masses of stress at work! I think cortisol is the answer! Anyway now we have to deal with it!

We just have to get on with it, I wish there was a really positive website about cancer that helped you stay positive!

Now that you say this....you eat right, healthy...etc....this reminds me SO much of my best friend that ended up with cancer.

Her husband was a physical trainer...they had a gym in their basement.....She ATE so HEALTHY....physically took care of herself....I was a big drinker, smoker....

And she was the one that got the cancer and at the time they had no treatment for the HER2+ and I kept asking myself WHY and HOW did this girl EVER GET CANCER?

She was a young lovely person who had just adopted a son from Russia....and she only lived a year after adopting her son because at the time they did not have treatments for HER2+ cancer (11 years ago).

Because of HER (I never went for mammograms)....she made me PROMISE to go for mammograms and I have gone annually ever since.....If it weren't for her my cancer would not have been found at this early stage.

Its a positive that WE are going for our checkups and finding out this stuff before it is too late.

Because i had another woman that worked with me....we used to go out and have a cigarrete break together and she asked if we could go smoke in my car so she could show me something.

That woman NEVER went to the DR and had a HUGE lump and puss leaking from her nipple she asked me what to DO??

I said you need to go the DR immediately.....She did and it was so far spread thru her body that she did not live long after that.

So, it is so positive that people on this site are getting checked....and getting treatments.

    Hugs.
