Hi I had lumpectomy with MICAP flap reconstruction. Has anyone here had this and have any issues/different sensations/painful at the area further down the line ?
Along my scar line feels sore at times but if I massage it, it helps. It is little bit less numb too so maybe I’m now feeling it. Also if I overstretch or lift eg heavy kettle I feel it pulling on that area. As I’m doing more thorough examination of breast (as couldn’t bare it before) I’m feeling soft squishy area where the lump used to be and flap was put in. I’ve again got that anxiety feeling all over again. I’m 10 months after surgery and radiotherapy. Had chemo before it all. I’m speaking to BCN on Tuesday before my second last Kadcyla.
Hi Hmfm
I've noticed that your post has gone unanswered, I am just replying as although I can't help, it may be that someone is around at the moment who have had a MICAO reconstruction and can give you some more information.
You may well have spoken to your BCN by now, but I'm sure if someone else has the same experience this would prove a lot more useful.
Best wishes, Lesley
Thanks Lesley
I’ve been looking every day to see if anyone has answered. I emailed the surgical breast nurse and she spoke to the surgeon who is confident nothing to worry about. So she has given me appointment for next Friday just to reassure me. Keeping it to myself only x
Hi Hmfm
My 'story' was definitely curtailed by Covid! Back to doing a bit more travel this year, but unfortunately having to go with a travel company, rather than organising it ourselves. Too much risk of something Covid wise causing issues if we don't have the backup of an ABTA travel company - not quite the same sense of freedom, but at least seeing somewhere else in the world.
Although I've not had reconstructive work, I must admit to being very surprised how the surgery/radio has made a difference to my breast. I am nearly 5 years along and mine still doesn't feel 'normal' - I even have a red line on the bottom half of my breast and if I lie on my front it can hurt. It was about a year after I had lifted a heavy shopping bag that I realised for the first time I wasn't getting the normal pain that I had got used to when lifting something heavy with that arm.
Hope your appointment tomorrow goes well as I am sure it will
Best Wishes, Lesley
Thanks again Helen !
