I've been on Letrozole almost 2 5 years now, with a few breaks (retinal detachment, having covid etc.) Over the last three months I've had two UTI's, the first causing a kidney infection, and this week another one with urgency as well. I've never had a UTI until now, and know that it's the letrozole. I don't want be on an endless cycle of antibiotics, so I wondered what I can do (apart from stop taking it!), what supplements, what drinks etc.?
I found it really start taking its toll these last few months, with thinning hair, brittle, ridged nails, a big tummy, weight gain, dryness in the nether region(!) and tiredness so I guess it's doing its job at least.
Hi I’ve had one UTI whilst being on letrozole which I started last august. However, sometimes I have the feeling it is the start of uti.. . Sorry your having this as it is not very nice.
I have known that cranberry juice can help prevent uti or cystitis so maybe worth looking more into that. Plenty fluids through the day also helps flush out any bugs. Someone else will hopefully give you more info . I don’t have any problems with my hair etc but my nails are brittle so I get big build nail treatment at nail salon. Supposed to be kinder to nails than other nail treatments.
I take d-mannose daily which keeps the UTIs at bay. You can increase your dosage if you feel once coming on.
Better than endless antibiotics, which just muck your whole system up!
Agree about cranberry juice, I have it daily.
Onwards and flatwards (don't do hills) and keep walking if you can!
Thanks everyone:)
