I feel like death warmed up!  I’m sure hundreds of you have written about the ‘after effects’ but I really didn’t know I’d have everything listed in the list!! From a feeling of lying in broken glass at the back of my head to neuropathy hands/feet, bleeding nose, burst blood vessel in eye, blocked nose so tender, constant nausea, heartburn, indigestion, aching bones, diarrhoea (therefore sore bum), constipation, low potassium, low electrolytes, breathless, and totally sapped of energy! Fortunately hospital jump on things quickly but how many counteracting drugs can you take!? Had kidney check yesterday and had fluids up and potassium tabs.  It’s my husband who is suffering the most..he tries to make meals for us but they taste like rancid cream…Scream I presume I’m not alone…???

  • Oh no ooor you , you’ve got the full whammy ! I’ve just had my third EC on weds , had my support meds changed so not so sick ( yet!). Which chemo you on ?

Do you have decent anti sickness / indigestion meds ? I have Emend this time which has made a massive difference ( still nauseous but not vomiting ) and omeprazole has helped with that and the indigestion / reflux . Last twice , everything tasted vile but this time I actually feel like eating little bits plus they taste normal

    You’re not alone

Sadly Dollydimple, it’s good to know I’m not alone! Spoke to fantastic GP receptionist this morning and asked doctor to prescribe more omprazole and domperidon. I’m on DOCETAXEL, CARBOPLATIN, HERCEPTIN plus FILFRASTIM injections. They may as well throw in PLUTONIUM and NOVICHOK….I probably wouldn’t notice!!! Haha!JoyJoyJoy

Hope the extra goodies help ! Fingers crossed tone1

In reply yes I have gaviscon which helps. I know we’re all in the same awful boat…don’t you just want to get off sometimes??. Obviously I hope for you that things get easier too. I hate the thought of anyone suffering physically mentally emotionally. Onwards and upwards!!

  • Yes , definitely on the verge of mentally abandoning ship !
    Thank you , you too

  • Oh goodness that sounds truly awful. I hope they can adjust this to make things better for you. Early days on my first cycle of EC - acid reflux is currently my only real issue. I have the dreaded Taxanes to come.

  • Sadly your not alone Tavares  chemo sucks  you do get better days though not as many as you'd like  on the good side if you can find a food that taste ok they encourage you to eat it not matter how bad it might  be for you I've just been told to eat ice cream custard trifle anything that is liquidish but contains milk as my body decided fluctuating blood pressure was a good thing and I'm struggling to eat hope your symptoms soon easy off
