Hi all I’ll finish chemo mid may hopefully going abroad in July can anyone advise on travel insurance

  • There’s a whole group on Mac for that!
if you type into the search bar you should hopefully find it. My advice is always to speak to a person to explain your exact situation when getting a quote before you agree (and get more than one to help you decide!)

  • Hi yes collating all info as we speak just hoping someone could point me in the right direction before trawling the internet thanks x

  • Hi

A holiday abroad sounds like a great idea but it can be more difficult to find travel insurance when you have a cancer diagnosis so can I recommend that you join us over in the travel insurance group where you'll find recommendations from others who have been successful. Once you've joined look for the thread called 'recommended travel insurance' as this is where the majority of recommendations are.

It has been recommended in the past to phone the insurance companies rather than try and do online quotes as often at the end of the online quote it will tell you to phone the company and you'll then have to go through all the information again. Also sometimes the broker can refer to the underwriters to see if they would provide cover when an online quote might just give you a straight refusal.

I do hope that you can get travel insurance so that you can go away

  • Hi Readhead1

I got annual travel insurance for Europe with Stay Sure after my main treatment was complete (see profile). They have an extensive health questionnaire regarding diagnosis and treatments. I also have two comorbidities for which I take treatment. Everything covered, however conditional on having a valid GHIC. Before I came across this company I had tried various search engines which gave no takers.

Relieved that I can still travel and not too expensive either at circa £150 for the year.

    Good luck!

  • I got annual world wide ( Inc USA) for myself and partner ( who has a number of existing health conditions) for £200 with PayingTooMuch

I completed treatment in Feb this year ( surgery and 5 sessions of RT) and am on Anastrozole for 5 years. I also have spinal osteoporosis

    Hope that helps x

  • Hi Redhead1

I just went on confused.com £30 for our 10 days in Corfu in June. I put all details it asked, it's very clear and easy to do, not overcomplicated. It asks what type, has it spread to lymph nodes ( which mine had) and if u now on preventative treatment etc that was all.

  • Yep I’ve had them out have I’ve got an appointment to see oncologist regarding further treatment so I’ll know a bit more then. Did you speak to someone or do it all online

  • Hi Redhead1

I just did it online, the questions are obvious and easy to answer. There would be nothing else to tell them anyway. Trying hard not to overthink everything.
