Today I started noticing aches along scar line ( bottom of breast where it joins chest) and where my reconstruction was.
could a bit of yoga, after avoiding it for couple months, and lifting 2 heavy plant pots yesterday cause this?

my mind working overtime. No redness, heat or swelling noted

  • I would have it looked at, for peace of mind. When I read your post just now the first thought that came to mind was, "has she pulled a muscle that is now radiating pain to a sensitive area?" The heaviest thing I have lifted so far weighed just over 20 kg. It didn't do me any favours and my scar area protested it along with some other body areas, but it settled down after a short while. I now wonder if those heavy plants did the same for you, but obviousy no way to know, and the only way to set your mind at ease would be to contact someone from the medical teams. If you do that, you could ask for clear guidance regarding activities you can take on, and what you can reasonably expect if you overdo anything. This would not only tell you what is and what isn't considered "normal," but also allow you to decide to push yourself further if you wanted to (with the yoga) without wondering what that might now do.

  • Thanks GreyCats

when I lifted the pots to empty them into the garden wheelie bin I felt the affected area in my breast pulling so I definitely think that’s aggravated it, where the flap was put in. I will give it another day or 2 and phone if worried. It doesn’t help that I’m nightshift tonight either !!

  • Hi Hmfm

I'm 3 years post op lumpectomy august/cavity shave Feb. Full node clearance aswell. I still get odd sensations, soreness and tenderness and definitely if I've over used left arm etc. They have always said its to be expected. As a Nurse I know to monitor and if it doesn't settle with help of simple pain relief get it checked. Mines same never changed.

    Xxx

  • Thanks Pusheen, this gives me reassurance. I do think it was lifting heavy plantpot to empty the soil. I’m keeping a check and taking analgesics also x

  • Hi

I'll be 5 years this year and still I get tenderness and pain in my breast.  Lumpectomy without any reconstruction (80mm removed).  It was about a year before I suddenly realised that lifting the heavy shopping bags didn't cause me pain later in the day, so I would say as others have said, that it's pretty normal.  Still, if I roll onto my front in bed, I feel pain. I was shocked how breasts are just not like broken bones!

    Best Wishes, Lesley

  • Thanks Lesley I tend to overthink. There’s a wee lump area where they removed tumour and filled it in with fat/tissue from where curve of breast joins chest

  • Hi lesleyhelen

just wanted to update you. I seen the surgeon re a lump I could feel under my surgical scar where MICAP flap was. She sent me for a mammogram of both breasts ( as due that in august anyway) and then a ultrasound. I must say the atmosphere in the room getting this done a second time was so different. The lovely doctor told me to look at the screen and showed me it was just scar tissue from surgery. I was so relieved and grateful to her for explaining it all to me. The surgeon took me back in and said she would cancel august appointment and I would get my 2nd mammogram next may and see her in the June 2023. It’s a year away and will still keep checking. To anyone in my situation… it’s not always what you think it’s going to be.
I did get emotional behind my mask seeing the faces of other women there for first time, worry etched on their faces and tears of young woman hurrying out the treatment room. I prayed they will be ok x
