I had one session of docetaxel in late November. Unfortunately it made me very ill and I had more or less every side effect and almost a month in hospital. The latest one is that my finger and toe nails are coming off. I had not been warned about this and as it is about 5 months since the chemo I am not sure what comes next. Where the nails have actually come off he new nail looks odd and as though it may come off again. Does anyone know how many times nails come off? I asked the oncologist and she said that it happens and could go on for a year to eighteen months. I am rather shocked at that. (Thank goodness that I did not have the three sessions planned!) Makes me wonder how long chemotherapy effects last in the body. So any information appreciated. Thank you.
Thank you for your reply. Buttons are difficult too aren't they? I have lost the same number of finger nails and no 10 looks as though it will follow the rest. The new ones look very odd and I am just wondering if they will also come off. Four toe nails so far and a couple of others are discoloured and will probably come off. Just have to put up with it lol.
