Does anyone else get this for few days after Chemo. Pattern forming, had 3rd FEC cycle yesterday. Jo

  • Hi Jo,

If your temperature is under 36C then you should call your unit or go in ASAP, as it can be a sign of neutropenic sepsis, particularly combined with intermittent shivering or sweating.  I did get flushing for the first few days after chemo due to the steroids, but my temperature was always normal.

please do take care of yourself, better safe than sorry.

  • I do. I’m day two of second chemo. My face is bright red after the steroids for a few hours. And feel cold also. Temperature is normal range just feel shivery xx

  • I did mention this had happened previously too. Didn't seem overly concerned tbh. If doesn't settle will phone them later. Feel fine in myself. Jo

  • Temperature fluctuated all day. Finally rang teatime as was 35.4 again. Talked it through, temp went up to 36.1 while on the phone to them . As not feeling Ill, accepted I can continue to monitor. If drops again, have to ring back. Only updating so others know for future reference. Jo

  • I had intense chills with docetaxel, followed by intense hot flushes as I was on zoladex injections to make me menopausal too. It was not fun - I would go from being so cold that no amount of blankets, hot water bottles or heaters could stop me shivering, to being so hot and claustrophobic and filled with anxiety that I had a few mini panic attacks I just couldn't control my temperature and this was happening every 20 mins, 24/7 for days.

The zoladex probably made it worse, but I didn't have the intensity of chills and heat on EC and I had my first zoladex with my 2nd EC.

I was taking my temperature all the time and a few times it showed as 35.8 but then it would be back to normal (36.4 for me) so I wasn't too worried.

Good that you have called someone though, and also good you are not feeling ill from it.

  • All settled down today, after another very low reading first thing this morning. 35.4 again. Will keep monitoring. Jo
