So I got a blood clot after 2nd chemo.

First round ended up with urine infection,

Got covid then got another urine infection.

2bd round I get a blood clot.

Now on blood thinners.

I just want to give up chemo , I've had two cycles & so far haven't been well after anyone of them .

Doctor says for 3 months during all my chemo.

My next round is supposed to be wednesday  my final and last round of EC and I have a blood clot , surly they can't give me Chemo.

I've asked to speak to my oncologist , because I'm just not coping with it all .

  • Hi Etna

I had an infection after my first chemo, then got a blood clot in my picc line after my second cycle and was put on blood thinners. At that time I was really fed up but had no issues with my last 4 cycles which I finished in December. It is hard and it feels like it will never end but you do get out the other side and hopefully you will be like me and have no further problems to deal with.

    Take care

    Gillie

  • Must be really hard to deal with, sorry you're struggling.  Sure Oncologist will do what's best for you. Wishing you all the best. Let us know how you get on. Jo

  • Wil do, oncologist was reducing my last chemo if EC as I was ill from it, didn't get on well with it amongst everything else so I've no idea what will happen now.

    Got therapy today ,

    Thanks

  • Nothing in all of this has been going the easier route for you, has it. Sigh. I really was hoping things would go better.

My second chemo regimen was similar to yours, and I too never completed the full course, even after a dose reduction, because at that time it was judged that the actual damage outweighed the potential benefit. I did give it a good try, though, got through 3 out of 4 prescribed treatments, and only stopped when I had a realistic concern that a 4th treatment might kill me.

My first chemo regimen was a different story though, I got through 28 treatments. Wouldn't call it a walk in the park, but it was nothing to compare to the other chemo.

When will you know what's next for you?

  • I'm supposed to have my last EC next Wednesday , then wait 3 weeks for my new one on the pax.

I've left a voice message at breast care team at oncology so hoping to have a phone call back, I told them yesterday at acute I wanted to speak to my oncologist so I'm hoping they sent an email to explain what's going on.

2 cycles I've had I don't think is enough to have done anything, I'm getting overwhelmed with what on earth is the rest going to be like , I only had my picc line fitted 2 weeks ago.

The doctor at acute Said take the blood thinners for the whole duration of My chemo, like it's just a normal thing, it does not feel normal.

I personally feel like giving up but Ive only had two , which if I was to give up ,their was no point in even having the first two in the beginning as I doubt it's done anything other then give me a blood clot & made my hair fall out.

I've had the surgery already, it hadn't of spread, it was 2cm lump, it's adjuvant the chemo I'm on now.

I didn't want to be in this situation, I wanted to get through last cycle of EC , at least a pax cycle.

All my bloods came back fine Aswell to them , it's probably I'm fit and healthy to continue.
