The cancer has spread

So unfortunately today I got the results that my cancer has spread from the breast into the lymph nodes. This means I will now need chemo as well as radiotherapy Pensive I've now got to wait full ct scan and then I have just found out my surgery will be 17th of May. How is everyone else doing? Is anyone else at the same point

For me I've found sharing my story on my instagram page a real positive for me to encourage others to check and to share my journey. It would be lovely to connect with more people going through the same thing.

Sending lots of love to everyone who is currently battling this

Xxx

  • April,

Sorry to hear you have had that news, its always hard when you were not expecting it, I was told straight away mine was in my lymph nodes as that's where my lump appeared first, so understand how you are feeling.

I also found it very therapeutic to share my story as have had some lovely responses and if we can help one person then that can only be a good thing xx

I'm so so sorry to hear this....

Hopefully, the CT scan is GOOD and although it went to your lymph nodes, possibly with the chemo and frequent checkups it won't go anywhere ELSE.

I'm not at this point yet, I don't see my Surgeon until next Thursday.....

  • Hi April

Found your Insta page don't know where you get the energy from!!!! My cancer hadn't spread to lump nodes but I still needed chemo and have just had mastectomy as three previous ops couldn't get clear margins. There were two other areas of dcis non invasive cancer so mastectomy was justified. I'm waiting for date to see radiotherapist to find out what her plan will be for me.

I know some people find the treatment very hard and certain words send us into a spin. I was initially told lumpectomy and radiotherapy....that plan has constantly evolved to where I am now having experienced all available treatments but in a sense I'm glad ....I want whatever it takes to stop this horrible disease coming back. It's taken a lot away from me but it won't break me!!!!

    Stay strong. Xxx

  • I was in the same place.
I had a lumpectomy and node biopsy 31st Dec 21. 1 node out of 5 came back with 25mm cancer in it. the margins on my lump where not clear either so I went back in surgery and had more removed from breast and 27 more nodes. Nodes came back clear but not the lump margins. I had a 3rd lot of surgery if not clear after this it was a mastectomy. Luckily it came back clear. CT scan show it hadn’t spread any further.
I am starting 16weeks of chemo on 11th May then radiotherapy then 10yrs of hormone treatment.

Good luck with your journey x x

    Sorry to hear your news.

It's only been a week since I had lumpectomy and lymph nodes removed.

My lump was small 9mm, so I'm told that if lymph nodes are clear I will have radiotherapy.

Preparing myself for worse case senerio but fingers crossed.

You sound like a strong person and I hope your treatment goes well.

We've got this, we can beat it.Bouquet

  • Hi April

I am in a similar position to you. I was recently been diagnosed with breast cancer and also cancer positive in the lymph node(s) they did the biopsy on. They are checking with CT scan to see if cancer has not spread/spread. I've been told that the plan is for lumpectomy for breast lump and nodes followed by chemo. I don't know the date or if it has spread, if this would alter the plan. This is an added worry and the waiting is torture. You are not alone,

  • Hi April

yes I have had similar. I had a therapeutic mammoplasty and sentinel node biopsy on 7/4. Clear margins on the lump but they found cancer in 1 of the 2 lymph nodes taken out. I hade the rest of the lymph nodes taken out on Wednesday so just recovering at home at the moment then waiting to see what happens re treatment depending on whether they find it in any more. I have had a CT scan so they are confident it hasn’t spread beyond the nodes although I keep worrying they will have missed something!

I agree re sharing journey, I have found it very helpful to hop on here especially in the middle of the night when brain is in overdrive.

    sending love
