i am currently into my 5 month of anastrozole and suffering with major hair thinning and brain fog. I have seen some people comment that by taking arimidex which is the non generic the side effects are more tolerable? Has anybody any information regarding this. I don't feel i want to swap to a completely new drug as this may have even worse side effects. My GP has said he will not prescribe as this is the more expensive drug.
Also I feel i am having to learn my job from the beginning agian as my mind just goes completely blank on basis information.
Many regards
I've just started my second month of Anastrozole. My first prescription was the Accord brand and this second box is Teva. I've definitely noticed much stiffer hips over the past few days but once I'm up and moving it eases.
Im 53 and still working - in fact I went back to work this week, can't afford to give up my job quite yet. Can't work from home as I'm a teacher so got to keep going for the next 6 years or so. I'm hoping the side effects don't get worse.
Ive read that they can improve after 6 months or so as your body adapts.
Hi
I have read many oats where the make ie accord can make a difference, some if the coatings are different apparently and this can lead to acceptance or rejection by your body. Someone on this site did a lot of research into it.
I think it's very personal to your body, what your lifestyle is etc if it gets better with time. I really hope yours does.
I feel as though I am going backwards at the moment, partly the pain, and work attitude.
Just started 2/3 weeks ago gabapentin to counter the pain, which is working well topped up by codeine occasionally. However, tiredness is bad, but it's very hard to suddenly changed from ' get on with everything' to pacing yourself and accepting help when you are struggling.
Its lovely to share I don't feel ' it's just me' anymore.
Lots of hugs to all of us let's keep sharing, I hope it helps you all as well
Helen
I could have written your message, myself. On Anastrozole too, and the brain fog is terrible. I started back on a phased return and also had to reduce my working hours with my annual leave. Nice to need others in same situation , I also cannot finish work, I had hoped I would be back to normal by now, after chemo, and radiotherapy. Didn't realise the Anastrozole caused brain fog too x
