Do people feel ok to drive after having ec chemo?

  • I didn't drive on Chemo days and not that much after but coped fine driving locally x

  • I would drive to and from chemo, fine the next day too but then didn’t drive for a couple of days then was fine Cherry blossom Just see how you feel

  • I was fine to drive to and from chemo but fortunately I'm only 15 minutes from the hospital. I would recommend getting a lift for your first session to see how you are - I felt much better on subsequent sessions- maybe it was the shock and emotional of the first one and was able to drive on the following days too.

  • I drove to abd from chemo and the days I had steroids but didn’t feel safe on days 3-7 after my first round…brain fog and very heavy and slow reactions. X

  • Personally I always felt a little spaced out after  EC chemo.

I was also told by one of the chemo nurses before I started that my insurance may be invalid if I drove immediately after chemo. It may be worth checking with your insurance provider just to be on the safe side

    Take care

  • I too didn’t feel safe to drive after chemo, very spaced out. It took me a variety of lengths of time to drive after each session and depending on necessity and I didn’t drive far. Also I’d check you insurance, I recall with mine it was dependent on consultant advice and I was told to avoid driving if I could. As it was I didn’t feel quite safe to drive x

  • I felt pretty spacey after EC chemo, I couldn't have driven. If its your first one, then I wouldn't risk it.

I felt a bit better immediately after docetaxel, but I was so tired out by then that I wouldn't have wanted to drive.

I barely drove at all during chemo. I remember driving to get my zoladex injection one week after chemo one time and I really shouldn't have driven. Luckily it wasn't far, but it was a reminder how much of your faculties you need to control a vehicle safely.

I was very lucky that my husband was able to drive me everywhere. He wasn't allowed to come with my to chemo so he dropped me off and collected me.

  • Hi

did you start Zoladex alongside chemo then? I’m still having cycles on chemo so thinking I should chase up the referral but wasn’t sure if it was to be done after?

    thanks

  • I’ve just had 3 cycles of EC, definitely been too spaced out and feeble to drive for about 10 days after. Take care- you don’t want to have a bump and make things even more complicated!
