Hi

How are the above injections given? Into which body part and do they hurt? Jo x

  • They go into your thigh, they sting quite sharply for a second at first and if you put pressure on them at the end but they don’t really hurt during, it takes about 5 mins, first one is a bit longer but it speeds up. They do it into alternative thighs. I have had 5 now, last time I got a large strange bluish purple mark on my thigh around it and this time I’ve had no pain at first at all as with the previous injections but two days later I gave muscle pain, copeable but present. Otherwise I’m not having other side effects. I get on with my day as normal afterwards and don’t seem to have any side effects. That said I wouldn’t know if they are fatiguing me, you’re knackered during and after chemo and then I had a mastectomy with diep in January, so I was and am knackered all the time! But overall I’d say they’re fine, I don’t seem to have too many problems. My leg has been worse this time but I’m hoping it’s a one off X

  • Oh Jor im having these too ...more jabs Cry x

  • Hi

They’re given in alternative thighs ,I had six I was in unit 30 mins max . The tip I was given was to warm up the Herceptin inyour hands while the unit nurse is sorting herself out . Just rub phial between hands ,it stings less .
    Any little helps lol Joy

  • Thanks for the heads up! Much appreciated. Jo. X don't know what I'd do without this forum

  • I'm having these for 12 months. Jo x

  • Yes 18 jabs  I finished mine last Dec/jan . Used to joke would have nowhere to go after 18 months of three weekly visits to chemo unit . Still go now but six monthly for bisphosonate infusion x

Youll get there Jo just one step at a time

  • I've had 6 so far, the last 2 have been given at home as my trust has a company who come out and do them, they're really good and will come at a time to suit you.

Ive found Im a bit more breathless than usual, only over the past couple of weeks. I go for my third heart scan on Tuesday so I'm just hoping my heart hasn't been affected by the Herceptin. In December my heart was working at 68% which is apparently normal. I think if it drops to 40-50% you have to stop the injections.

I've had no side effects with them, it just stings as it goes in. 12 more to go.

  • I'm up to 14. 4 to go. Having sessions of feeling rather woozy. Not faint. Just rather strange as though I'm going to feel faint but don't quite get there. Sounds weird I know. Any one else on Phesgo/ herceptin felt wobbly at all? This time round my energy seems to have disappeared too. Don't know if either of these symptoms are related to herceptin or not?

  • Hi Lblodwin

Ive had 11 so far and have felt this time much as you describe. I am also 3 weeks on from having covid so had been thinking it might be that….who knows!

Hi Margaret...ive also just finished the herceptin injections. I went for my review with oncologist who advised I should have zoledronic acid infusions. How are u managing them...the side effects sound quite scary!! .

    Thanks
