Hey,

I'm massively struggling with what my body looks like after 4 operations including a mastectomy, reconstruction and nipple removed.

Waiting on side 2 to be done to balance me out.

I feel disgusting, like a non human and it has brought back memories of being picked on as a kid for being different.

Can't seem to get over it.

It's not all over yet I know, but at the present moment I feel horrible.

How do you start to accept it?

  • I have found out that where it comes to our bodies, we are often out own worst critics. It doesn't help that surgeries such as those you have described take time to recover from, and for the breasts to settle and show the final result. The interim period can be hard, and especially as you are still waiting for the other side to be done.

Once both surgeries are behind you and the healing done, you will have a pair of beautiful, great looking breasts. The transition period is finite. I know this may not be a lot of comfort right now, but perhaps remembering it can help a little.

Perhaps you could call the Macmillan nurses? I did that at some point and they were absolutely fantastic.
