I to work in nhs and in management, you could ask to be referred to occupational health so they can do a more targeted return and also provide some work based counselling, I have had the opposite experience my only manager has been amazing allowing me to work from home come into work when I want but also still requiring me to deliver. This has helped me not to focus on cancer perhaps you could find a mentor in your trust? 

Hi, I work in the private sector, so I appreciate it's very different, but have you considered talking to HR to see if they might offer some support. Are they able to make any reasonable adjustments (which they are obliged to do given your diagnosis) to help you manage until you feel ready to come back fully?   Good luck

Hi Wajdi, you’re obviously suffering with some mental health issues and don’t seem to be thinking straight enough to make such a big decision. You should withdraw your notice and obtain a sick note from your GP or hospital for a month or two (even if you’re not entitled to pay) at least you’ll get stat sick pay and, more importantly time to think and recover so you can consider your choices more carefully. You’ve enough to worry about. Put work on the back burner and think about number one! All the best to you, take care of yourself xxx
