Hi

Covid numbers seem to be really high . Has anyone been offered the 4th vaccine and if so whereabouts in your treatment are you having it ?

I've just finished chemo and am waiting for surgery

Xx

  • Hi

I finished chemo in December and had my third Covid jab during it (early Dec).  This week I received a letter inviting me to book my fourth jab.  The guidance mentioned I shouldn’t get the fourth jab until at least three months after the third.  I had surgery before chemo so that didn’t enter into it for me.  Best wishes with your op x

  • I had my first jab prior to start of chemo. Second and third were during chemo. Fourth was one months after chemo.

The one month gap was dictated by my oncologist, to give my body time to recover a little from the last chemo to the point where my immune system would be good enough to get the full benefit of the vaccine.

Best to check with your oncologist before booking the vaccine, so he can offer input as to when the best time to have it would be, taking into account the current situation with Covid, your own unique set of medical circumstances, and his estimate of the state of your immune system.

  • Thanks I will.  I didn't realise people had had realise 4th yet xx

  • Hi, I finished chemo in June, radiotherapy in October.  I just went to a walk in vaccination centre 3 months after my 3rd vaccine and they gave me the 4th. I did explain this was my 4th and they made me have Pfizer though everyone else was having Moderna as they said the advice was to have 3rd and 4th the same.  I had my first 2 vaccines just before and during chemo.  Good luck

  • Hi, I’m halfway through chemo and was offered my 4th jab. Was quite net about it this time round due to chemo but had it a week ago and all was fine.  Hope that helps xx

  • I had my 4th while on Kadcyla (chemo/immunotherapy conjugate). Had my flu jab with my 3rd. Both Pfizer. Was neither up nor down.

    Hope all goes well.
