Hi
I had a left breast mastectomy almost 2 years ago. I have been feeling fatigued and achy for months and today I noticed a lump under my left arm. It’s very soft and appears to be like a swollen gland. Should I be concerned? I had the sentinel nodes removed at the same time as my breast. Has anyone else on here experienced something similar?
thanks

Hi Polar Bear welcome to the forum. I think this needs viewed by someone like the GP to have a medical eye cast over this and take things form there. Please do not delay, this could be many things but it needs checked out asap. xxx
You need peace of mind so contact your BCN. I went with lump in armpit age 40 and insisted on referral as GP didn't know what it was but thought it was ok. I needed peace of mind and it turned out to be what they called fat pad. They did mammogram and ultrasound to be sure though.
Glands can become swollen for many reasons, but it's best to have it checked to be sure. At 2 years past mastectomy you are likely still under the care of the breast team, so I would start from there. They will be able to scan it and take a biopsy as needed.
Thanks, GreyCats. I’m waiting for a reply from the breast care team. I’m sure they will much my mind at rest. x
Thanks, Gail. You’re right, I’m going to get it looked at. X
Thanks, Carol. I’ve left a message with the breast care team. x
