Sharp tingling

I'm 8 days post op bi lateral mastectomy and lymph nodes clearance. Obviously am in quite a bit of discomfort however today I've been feeling occasional sharp tingling in the area of the right breast, it's not constant but feels almost like a little electric shock. Can anyone tell me if they have experienced this and if so what is it.

Kind regards

Ahrensmum

  • Hi Ahrensmum

I'm no expert and I'm 15 days post op for a right breast lumpectomy and axillary node clearance.

I had a drain fitted for 11 of those days.

When the drain came out and I started to move my arm more. I had like electric shocks well it seems like a sharp stabbing pain under my arm into my breast.

This the BCN said were normal as tissue and nerves were pulled whilst getting your nodes out.

I would if your worried mention it to your BCN who will reassure you.

You've done the right thing by coming on here for support

  • Thank you so much for your reply M. Sending you healing vibes.

  • Sounds like something your nerves are doing, and I am guessing, cautiously, that this would fall under, "normal phenomena." However, no harm in contacting your nurse on Monday morning to let her know and see what she says.

  • I also had the electric shock type pains after lumpectomycand node removal. Assuming nerves, healing process. 8 weeks in now, hardly any pains at all.
