Hi was diagnosed in December 2021 and now awaiting a start date for chemo, as I'm self employed I wondered if anyone can help as to whether I can get financial help at all , I'm a cleaner and in between my 2 ops I have been working but I am worried I won't be able to work when on chemo . I have a partner who works full time so don't know if that will go against me . Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Hi, it would be well worth you phoning the Mac helpline on 0808 808 0000 as they have financial advisors who could point you in the right direction. You’ll need to have all your financial info to hand of course. Best to phone in normal ‘office hours’ as I’m not sure they would be working outside those times.
Hope they can help you

I'd also speak to Maggie's. Their benefits expert helped me a lot, she even filled out some applications for me while we were sitting together, and she made sure I applied for everything I was entitled to, as well as some travel grants I had not even been aware were an option. The Maggie's centre where I am is a very inviting space, I really love it, so I'd recommend going in (if there is one in your area) and have a chat, as well as get the help you need on the financial side.
