Ive been losing my hair for the last couple of weeks and have got a constant headache/pain at the front and top of my head. Other than constantly taking paracetamol what other things can I do.

  • Shaving it off will help. I found mine felt weird when it was falling out though I had already shaved my head before chemo. I didn't have any pain though, and I would gently rub my head in the shower to get the hairs out that were already falling out - I think that helped too.

  • Hi  I had head/scalp pain when hair was about to shed it was so uncomfortable I made decision for hairdresser to do no2shave it was such a relief and quite liberating that I made the decision when hair should go .

Other than that you co7ld wear beanies to prevent too much movement of hair and massaging scalp it all depends on how you feel about losing hair .

    good luck

  • Hi Debbie I have had severe hair loss after only 2 weeks of EC chemo but the hair that is left (very little) feels like someone is sticking pins in to my head and my scalp is so sensitive. Have you found anything that helps at all? Janex

  • Hi

I've been gently massaging my head especially in the shower with conditioner. I have also now bought a silk pillowcase which is lovely (I didn't know about silk pillowcases) my head doesn't seem quite so painful with it and it's lovely to sleep on. I'm going to see my hairdresser on Thursday about having what's left of my hair cut very short or shaved off. I got a wig on Friday which is so much like my own hair it's fantastic my hairdresser is going to to have a look at it and give it a trim for me. I have been worried about my hair and thought I could cover bald patches up if it was a bit longer but the pain and headaches aren't worth it and at the end of the day it will grow back. I'm not a big hat wearer but have got a few different scarves and bandanas and getting quite used to them.

Hope this helps Two heartsTwo hearts
