I was out when the chemist delivered my letrozole, luckily the bag fits through my letterbox, however on opening the bag I was dismayed to see it's "Glenmark" brand which I've never had before. This is now the fourth brand and I've only been on letrozole for five months, already had Manx, Accord and Sun Pharma. Don't know how I am supposed to find out which brand suits me with all this chopping and changing!
Hi Eline, that's a lot of brands in just 5 months! I've recently started taking Letrozole and I asked my GP if Accord could be specified on the prescription as it seems ok so far so I don't want to risk changing to another brand just yet. I spoke to my local pharmacist too (Boots) and luckily they advised that Accord is the only brand that they stock, the only exception would be if there were any supply problems. It might be worth contacting your GP to see if it's possible to request a specific brand, or maybe try another pharmacy if there are others near by to choose from.
I'm on tamoxifen but found the first brand I got was ok so now specify this on the request to GP for issuing prescription and my pharmacist knows too. it helps x
Hi ladies, my first script for letrozole produced 2 months of Accord. As I had very little side effects other than sore bones and lack of sleep, I specifically requested Accord for my next lot. Got1 Accord and 1 of another brand which I refused as I would not risk taking it. Pharmacist was very grouchy and told me he couldn’t specify brands, had to take what wholesalers sent him, therefore I had to take what I got. I still refused and just took the one month of Accord. At my GP appointment I told her this and she said I had to try the other brand as I may be ok on it!
However on visiting pharmacy later (not for any prescription)an assistant who I know very well handed me a bag with my ‘prescription’, when I opened it there were 4 months of ACCORD!! Friend later called to tell me when the letrozole arrived pharmacist kept the accord he was sent for me. She also had updated their database to read ONLY ACCORD!!
Why do people who’ve never experienced these meds think they know better and try to tell you they are all the same when they’re clearly NOT.
Hugs to everyone on this journey we didn’t choose.
I read about the femera brand of letrozole and asked my gp for it he wasn’t very happy as it costs £90 per month the other one I was taking was £3. That tells you something. Still get side effects but not as bad as the others Try asking g for it. They don’t know how we all feel !!!!!!!!
Femara (thr Czech import as they come from different places and aren't made in the UK) made me dizzy, though less joint pain.
