I wondered whether anyone had to have Trastuzumab emtansine? I was meant to have herceptin after my radiotherapy for 18 rounds but they have now changed me onto Trastuzumab emtansine which I think has chemo in it as well? I am so confused as to what the difference is and if it has the same horrendous side affects as full blown chemo? Can anyone who has had this treatment maybe explain a little more to me? X
im on it for 14 rounds. I’m on the 10th and it’s not horrendous for me. It’s herceptin with a milder chemo. The 2 together work better when there are small cancer amount remaining after surgery. It is a fantastic drug with great results. Very clever drug in how one carries the other to the cells which is then killed by the other. If you go onto breast cancer site at Macmillan and type in kadcyla you will get more info. Please don’t fret, it’s side effects are not like other chemos, no hair loss etc, well for me anyway xx
