Seeing my consultant on Friday. Have been advised so far I need a lumpectomy and radiation. Would appreciate any comments etc etc, I thought my right breast was the problem, but have been told tissue changes in my left breast is the problem. Have a 1.4 cm calcification, plus a splattering of other very small ones (the smaller ones being ‘older’). How do they gauge how much tissue to take out and does this mean breast reconstruction? Just got my letter for the Breast Reconstruction clinic for Friday. Feeling anxious.
In May 2015 age 51 I was recalled from my first rountine screening mammogram for 2 areas of calcification (10mm & 5mm). I was diagnosed with DCIS in the 10mm area only. The smaller area was benign. I had a WLE in July and 15 sessions of radiotherapy in September. 11mm high grade DCIS was final diagnosis after surgery. I have a small scar and dent.
