Hi all,

Well a month after being diagnosed and lots of tests, yesterday I was given a date for surgery so now panicking about it.

It looks like it's just in my right boob and lymph nodes, so they are taking that boob and all my lymph nodes out on my bright side, I am having an implant  and they are having to reduce the size of my other boob as I have 36 FF boobs.

I'm just after a bit of advice as absolutely petrified of having this done and if there is any advice anyone who has who have had it done?

Many thanks x

Hi Icela, I am also a ff cup but told surgeon a perky d cup would be fine. I have my date too but I am trying to keep busy. It’s a very odd feeling of not knowing how to feel xx

Thanks for the reply, yes I was so relieved yesterday when they said it looks like just in breast, as I had thought it had spread, so a huge relief but then I panicked as its still such a huge thing to go through and all my family is just happy and relieved while I'm panicking still and angry that I'm losing my boob xx

    Hi Icela

I’m sorry that you have had a diagnosis. It is all so scary and a bit of a whirlwind at the beginning.

I had a mastectomy but I was not allow reconstruction at the same time so I can’t give advice on the recon.

Of course having a  mastectomy is not pleasant but don’t worry about pain ect as your medical team will make sure that you are comfortable.

if you have never had an Anaesthetic,it’s just like having a good nap.it can sometimes make you feel nauseous but again they can give you meds for that.

Make sure you do any exercises that they give you as it will help with your recovery.

I am a total wimp and I am scared of everything but I have come through the surgery okay .

    Big hugs x

  • Amanda,

Thank you for your response, yes it's been a bit of a whirlwind to be honest and although I am extremely grateful it hasn't spread anywhere else that they can see atm, its still a big operation but all my family are just relieved and can't seen to understand that I'm a bit down with it all x
