Just a bit in mood for a rant .. was on a wierd path from get home only got truthful answer today at infusion . Triple positive at start 3c stage so ploughed on with surgury chem and knew a node in neck so got booster radio so got finally diagnosed with inflammatory arthritis and got DMARS so at min physically better than in two years . However I didn’t know that while I was on herceptin within couple months it popped up as tumour on neck so switched to the KADCYLA I thought it was because I had a lot of nodes 21 with cancer after surgury duh so I’ve been told as long as it’s effective which so far have clear ct but a bit spooked that I’m ok as long as it works I was so miserable with arthritis flares maybe I wasn’t listening properly I was more interested in help for pain etc I feel bad for whining but know classes as stage 4 but don’t feel it at min feel grand now most days grumpy today tho as took four attempts to draw blood even tho veins warmed up. I’m really thinking if I am getting this for a potentially long time should I just get port as hand was soo sore and I’m fed up with needles I know I sound a baby but ahhh I’m a huge grump and Hubble lovely but head in clouds maybe I should jump into his universe lol sorry
Hi, sorry your having a bad day. I just wanted to say it is definitely worth speaking to your oncology team about a porta cath. I had lots of problem with my blood tests and having my chemo. My veins look like they would be easy to access and i always get the ‘oh, you have nice veins’ then they try and fail. It came to a head when four people had numerous attempts at putting in a cannula that i finally decided to give the porta cath a go. I have had six cycles of Kadcyla and all my bloods done via the porta cath so far, with no problems. Hope this helps. Best of luck with your treatment.
Thanks Irish girl and maxwell . I did what was asked and hydrated warmed up but it seems to be getting more difficult to put in canals ive had so many at this stage I’ll ask them what do they think also I was a bit taken aback at the as long as it’s working scenario but I did notice the nurses so lovely and efficient .. I’m like the regular customer lol my husband doesn’t talk about this thing at all but he is very good overall so I’m greatful for this site hope you ladies can sleep too . Meds have me wired to moon for couple days and then I’m human again lol
